Speaking Development Events are designed to develop the ability of all FFA members to express themselves on a given subject. Students are encouraged to develop their communication skills and learn to formulate their remarks for presentation in a variety of situations
Students can compete in the following categories:
• Extemporaneous
• Sr. Prepared: Animal Science, Plant Science, Natural Resources, Agribusiness, Agricultural Policy, Agriculture Technology and Communication,
• Jr. Prepared
• Soil Stewardship
Students will write their own speech.
All Speeches are written in APA format.
Students are responsible for entry fees for Major Livestock Shows and Contest in the Fall. The Chapter will cover the entry fee for spring practice contests, and FFA competitions.
In the event a student backs out of the contest with less than 1 week notice, the student is responsible for refunding the chapter the cost of the student’s entry fee, and will not receive a refund for other payments, if applicable.
Dress Code
Students participating in an LDE will be in full official dress (skirts and slacks, no jeans)
